Scootering Bohol
throwback around Bohol in 3 minutes... #scooteringbohol #throwback

First up was the usual pre-loop photo, the current odometer reading. Also had a full tank of gas at the nearest gas station from our pension house (Caltex). A minor incident happened here. The attendant wasn't concentrating (I don't really know why). The gas overflowed and spilled from the gas tank. Mesha (our Scoopy) has only 3.5-liter tank. This was the first time that I experienced this but I believe that gasoline will evaporate once exposed for quite some time in air. So I asked the attendant to just wipe the visible gas on the tank and some areas and we stayed for a couple of minutes before deciding that the gas may had dried out and it's safe to proceed.
Our first stop was the Blood Compact Site. We missed this twice on the day before, going to and from our countryside tour. I heard that there was an ongoing hearing or investigation regarding the exact location of this site. Hopefully, they would find out where exactly is the correct location for this.
The roads from Tagbilaran City to Dimiao were great. Mostly cemented and rugged but better than rough roads. We planned to take photos to each town halls or church that we would pass by. We don't have photos of all of them because some of them were on videos and we did miss some of them as well unfortunately. First one we captured was the town hall of Loay. Then we passed into these rice fields. I think we saw rice terraces also or so they appeared to be (background of second photo below). NOTE: The time of the photos were incorrect. Must be subtracted with 12hrs. :)
Then, we saw a bakery in Dimiao that offered hot chocolate drinks. We decided to have our breakfast there. Pan de Sal and hot chocolate drink, always a good pair when we are on the road. We don't drink coffee nowadays. Palps anyone? lolz! After that, we hit Valencia.
Garcia-Hernandez had a better looking town hall. Then we passed by this long conveyor machine. If I remember correctly, this has something to do with mining (correct me if I'm wrong). Then we passed by this road with lots of container ships nearby.
Then, Jagna to Guindulman sandwiched a nice road by the shore...
Riding through these kind of scenery always relaxes us...
A really good day was ahead of us at that time from Alicia to Ubay.
We had our next gas stop somewhere in Ubay although I can't exactly remember if this is correct. Hahaha! The needle didn't really reached the lowest part of the red bar but we didn't know where the next gas station would be so we decided to fill there.
The roads on the eastern to the northern part of Bohol were mostly straights. I was always looking for some curves and twisties but nada. hahaha! It was at times a little boring honestly especially with a 110cc scooter with backriders and my stock pipe didn't help either, I was hoping I could squeeze out more speed on those types of roads. The road below was somewhere in Talibon. I think Talibon has the longest road that we trekked. We kept on asking, is this town going to end? Because we were mostly riding on straight roads.. At least the scenery help us not to get too bored. lolz..
Then we passed by Jetafe where small pump boats to and from Hilton,Lapu-lapu City can be used to travel to Bohol from Cebu and vice versa. Then we had our lunch at a roadside carenderia somewhere in Inabanga.
Passed by a couple of churches where some of them were mostly damaged and unusable.
We then had our third gas stop somewhere between Calape to Loon or maybe it was already in Loon. Can't exactly remember. :(
We also dropped by at the infamous watch tower in Punta Cruz.
Finally, we hit Tagbilaran City again. Final odometer reading was 8,495 kilometers so that was a 260 kilometer loop around the island of Bohol using around 7 liters of gas.
When we got to the pension house to rest a little bit, there was still time to consume. I think it was still around 2:00 in the afternoon. We made use of the time by going back to Panglao Island then see the famous Hinagdanan Cave.
And in the late afternoon, perfect time to hit the beach, Alona Beach. We also had our snacks at the stall of Bohol Bee Farms' Buzz Cafe. I really liked their ice cream. :)
Honestly, Alona Beach needs to be privatized. I saw a couple of garbages on the beach floating as well as in the shore. Plus, the things I didn't like when we were at the beach were:
- It was low tide.
- And because of that, we went a little farther and I hit a sea urchin (OUCH!)
- There was no nearby shower
- We went back up near the parking area for the shower, a little walk in a cold night
- There was no water already on the shower area
- We went back to the pension house, wet and cold :(
Next post will be our last day in Bohol but don't miss some the last spots that we hit before bidding goodbye to Bohol.
