This post is about the update of my pet project (Lyricist) and I've jumped the version to 2.0.0.0 due to a lot of internal changes:
- The lyrics is now saved into the actual song and not on a separate file. This reduces complications for average users.
- The user interface has been drastically changed to give it a "relatively" appealing look. Users can now also change the player color and lyrics font.
- Added a play-all feature which will play all the songs in your library (idea from WMP).
- Changed the trackbar song position to a progress bar. This enables the user to just click to a position rather than drag a slider.
- Display album art (the folder.jpg file will still be the first priority, followed by the audio file's album art and followed by the 'blank_album_art.bmp)
- Powered Music Library (drag and drop functionalities, tag editors and multi-file tag editors as well as adding tool bar buttons and context menus.
- Remember the last played list (If the playlist contains more than a hundred files, it will not be remembered)
Those are the major changes. There are also bug fixes which I was not able to document. Below are some of the important features of this application:
This is the main interface (the new look). Feature descriptions are added as tool tips so you may want to hover your mouse to a button or label to know what it actually is if the caption is not much clear.
This is the lyrics dialog, here you can create lyrics for a particular song and then save it to the lyrics tag of the song. Read on the yellow-background information for some important things to look out for.
Tools/Options Dialog. This is where you can change the overlapping of songs (right before the song ends and followed by other songs). The three-band equalizer, defaults to the REDCAT Preset. The Clean Up Memory/Unlock Used Files feature is all you need whenever you want to edit an audio file outside of this application (like an external tag editor) and the file is currently locked by this application (this is a rare scenario, though).
This is the audio library (if set to the path containing all the your audio files). Below images shows you other features which you can use, right click on a specific portion to check what functions you can use.
