Cebu Scoopy Club 2nd Anniversary

Meetup at Honda Philippines, Inc.
Before Mesha (our Honda Scoopy) arrived, I have already read about this club of Honda Scoopy riders here in Cebu. I learned about them in a thread in istorya.net and this club almost always has long rides every month or so and that invigorated my desire to join this club. In order to become a member, you just need to join the Cebu Scoopy Club (CSC) facebook page and of course you should have a Honda Scoopy obviously. I've been in this group for about 5 months already. The group was formed 2 years ago around May. It looks like there was no official date but the anniversary is celebrated every May on a Saturday and/or Sunday. This is my first time to join their anniversary ride.

It was a long ride from Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) in Lahug, Cebu City to HK Beach Resort, Moalboal, about a hundred kilometers to get there. The riders (including us) met at HPI at around 10:00 AM and we ride off at 11:00 AM.

We had stopovers at Carcar to fetch a pillion for one of our riders and at the Molave Milk Station in Barili where we ate a light lunch and snacks. Unfortunately, we still haven't tasted their best-selling frozen yogurt because, as usual, they ran out of ingredients. We only tried their vanilla ice cream which was honestly too sweet for my taste and the fresh milk which my wife actually liked. I still don't like milk :) . After that, we rode off again to Moalboal with a planned gas stop somewhere in Dumanjug, Cebu.

Gas stop at Shell Dumanjug.
We arrived at HK Beach Resort, Moalboal at around 3:00 PM. The ride was a little slow (~60kph) because we had newbie riders with us. The group (especially the sweeper) didn't leave the newbies behind. Okay, sometimes they were left behind for a couple of meters (again, except for the sweeper) but the group always waited at some points in the road for the newbies. The group had an official pacer (spear), sweeper (tail) and 2 or more marshalls.

After gassing up in Shell Dumanjug, we were really tired because of the slow pace of the ride so understandably, some of us felt the need for speed although again our sweeper didn't leave the newbies behind. We trekked the roads from Dumanjug to Moalboal with up to 80kph.

Enjoyed the camaraderie.
The HK Beach Resort in Moalboal, Cebu was a very nice resort with white, fine sands and clear seawater where the fishes and other marine lives were clearly visible. We had "lechon" for our dinner courtesy of Honda Philippines, Inc. At night, the group enjoyed the camaraderie with a touch of Emperador Light. We had night swimming under the clear, starry sky and just had fun all night. The group-bonding went really, really well. We then put up our tents on the shore where we slept for the rest of the night.
Scenes on the next day.

In the morning, we woke up for an early swim. You will really fall in love with the water because it was very clear. Unfortunately, it was low tide so the water level was low and obviously far from the shore and the sea ground at those areas were not sandy but there were a lot of corals. Because the fishes and all other marine lives were clearly visible, the not sandy ground was acceptable and equally enjoyable. I should have brought snorkeling equipment with us if we knew the water was that clear and there were a lot of corals in Moalboal.

Our breakfast menu consisted of "lechon paksiw" from the leftover "lechon" and we also bought these small sea urchins which we locally call "swaki" or "saluwaki". That was my first time to taste them. Not bad actually.

We left at around 9:00 AM from HK Beach Resort and headed back home. The pace was faster than when we came to Moalboal although again the sweeper did not leave the newbies behind. We split somewhere in Minganilla, Cebu. There were a couple of us who passed by Cebu South Road Properties (SRP) and we enjoyed some nice speed there.

Thanks to the group's President Micmic Hernando and the other officers and page admins for being active in this group. Special thanks also to Honda Philippines, Inc. and to Brian Ty of Vismotor Corporation for helping to make this activity successful and memorable.
