Fort San Pedro and Plaza Independencia

Plaza Independencia - Lover's den? More like family den. :)
I have been in Cebu for most of my life but I have never been to Plaza Independencia and Fort San Pedro until now. I passed the place a couple of times already but I haven't really gotten inside of it. Plaza Independencia has a reputation to be a lover's den. Some people view that as a negative connotation. Most of us really view the place as a family plaza. It's a relatively large plaza and well maintained. It's seated beside Fort San Pedro, considered as one of the smallest and oldest fort by Spanish colonizers here in the Philippines.

Our journey started at 9 AM. Mesha (our Scoopy) has just reached 4K kilometers on her odometer so that means, it's time for here periodic maintenance schedule (PMS). This is her second time although I believe that her first time did not include thorough tune up since it's still new. I also followed the standard way of "break in" so I have no worries. Her PMS consists of tune up and change oil. I only paid the oil since she's still under free service.

Mesha's 2nd PMS. Tune up and change oil.
Jayjay's follow up checkup.
At 9:30 AM, an ACES/PSH representative contacted us. We had a scheduled appointment for my daughter regarding her eyes. Her doctor (Dr. Loren Ong) was trying to check if he can lower down the grade of her glasses. She has like 500+ on both eyes, so young yet so graded. So after Mesha's PMS, we proceeded to PSH (Perpetual Succour Hospital).

No changes on her glasses' grade. Still the same so Dr. Ong decided that we just do yearly check ups unless something happens.

After that, we went back to Pacific Mall Mandaue to grab some groceries and have lunch there as well in our favorite Mang Inasal. You should try this restaurant if you haven't. I especially like their best seller PM1.

After Mesha's PMS, I have noticed that her handling, acceleration, responsiveness and so forth have changed. She's like so easy to ride. One time, I didn't even noticed we were cruising at 70kph (in the city) because I felt the engine was so relaxed doing it. I only slowed down once I spotted the speedometer rising. :)

So, I wanted to test more the effects of a tune up and so we decided to go to some place not that far away. Since I haven't visited Fort San Pedro and Plaza Independencia, might as well head there. We went there around 3PM. The sun's not that hot so it should be perfect.

The entrance to Fort San Pedro
The entrance fee is Php20 so we paid Php60 at the entrance. There was a wedding reception also taking place when we got there. Conclusively, I encourage you to visit the place. Have picnics there, play around, meet some foreigners (lolz) and more. There is a free playground there which is perfect for kids and the playground is well maintained. Really nice place to relax. Enjoy some of our photos below but if you want to see all of them, go to:

This is their entrance door (or gate?).

Flowers are always a great subject for photos.

Posing with the cannons.

Lots of foreigners when we got there.
I wonder what this one is called.
Jump shots where I forgot to set the digicam to sports so the results are blurry.

Jayjay's favorite part of the plaza, the playground. And take note, it's FREE.
